Virgo Horoscope April 2012

April is a month evenly divided in two, with financial matters dominating your attention the first half, and with lots of fun, relaxation, and possible travel after that. Keep that thought in mind, that a much better atmosphere will be shaping up for you later in the month when, during the first two weeks, you may feel you are sinking in receipts, checkbook entries, and calculator tape. This emphasis on money is temporary, so be cheered with that thought, too!

If you look at the big picture, you have been dealing with a tough financial situation for a very long time, possibly as far back as October 2009. Saturn has been in Libra since then, and has noticeably held down your income. Matters were made more difficult because you seem to have been dealing with employers and clients with low budgets, and changing jobs didn't help - if you interviewed, you were met with the same situations. At the same time, you had rising expenses, so you must have felt caught in the middle.

Your tight cash flow will clear up once you get to October, when Saturn will leave this difficult place in Libra. In the meantime, you will have a full moon on April 6 now that that you may find jarring. I am so sorry to report this, but here goes - I don't want you to feel broadsided.

The full moon of April 6, Libra 17 degrees, will fall in this same financial area of the chart that Saturn is currently visiting (and limiting your cash flow), namely, your second house of earned income. You will need to give this, and any full moon, a plus or minus five days from this date. Saturn will not orbit close enough to this full moon, but Pluto will cause problems from his position in Capricorn.

Pluto's presence suggests that someone will bring on a financial situation that will likely make you feel you are beset with a force that you cannot argue or debate with, because the other side is so big, they will win. You may feel to fight this would be useless - it would be like fighting City Hall. Indeed, Pluto is an 800-lb. gorilla - you may be dealing with the government, major bank, creditor, or very large company. You won't be able to use charm or appeal to gain this person's sense of kindness or sympathy. You will be dealing with someone who will be all business and will only be appeased by getting a check. Something about the situation may strike you as unfair. It does not look like you will have much choice but to find a way to pay, or else ask for an extension, or a payment / reorganization plan. Saturn makes us face our responsibilities, but doing so can seem very hard sometimes.

I promise to have wonderful news to share with you about April, but I have to discuss a more troublesome aspect coming on Sunday, April 15. At that time we have the annual opposition of Saturn and the Sun. This aspect falls on very different days every year - last year it was April 3, 2011. I know it sounds like a cosmic joke, coming on the day always associated with paying taxes. Not everyone will feel it in a financial way, but Pisces and Virgo will.

On April 15, the Sun will be in your eighth house of credit, taxes, loans, child support, and the like, and will be challenged by Saturn from your house of personal resources. The topic that comes up could easily be related to what you discuss at the full moon April 6. Give April 15 a plus or minus two days. Money will again be the topic, because both your financial sectors will be lit.

April 15 falls close American tax day April 17, so if you live in the US, you may feel depressed about the money you owe for your tax return. Or, if you're in the process of a divorce, you may feel talks are not going in your favor. A court case or legal action will likely bring a low amount or depressing news if delivered within two days of April 15.

I suggest you avoid financial talks of all kinds near April 15, plus or minus two days. Sometimes we can't help the timing of what happens, and we just have to go with the flow. Part of the reason that we study astrology is that we can prepare psychologically for oncoming events, and we have an inkling of what we must do to protect ourselves.

Now that I have given you all the tough news, let's concentrate on the really wonderful news. In this high-contrast month, you may be surprised to see how fast things turn perfectly to your favor, especially in the third week of April. That's one of the reasons I want you to avoid the time near April 15 - by the time you get to April 21, the tide is due to turn in your favor.

Let's start at the top of the month - there is a lot to say.

The first news of the month is that Mercury will go direct on April 4 after lolling in retrograde for three-and-a-half weeks. Mercury rules your sign, so while everyone feels a distinct slowdown to everyday events while Mercury is retrograde, you tend to feel the slowing effects more than others. Now you can sign documents if you like (or give your verbal answer), and be sure to give a space of a few days in between. Still, I recommend you wait.

Mars, the energy planet is moving ahead too, April 13, and that is also great news. Mars was retrograde, since January 23, so the combination of Mars and Mercury retrograde had you feeling tied in knots. When Mars is in strong direct orbit, this Red Planet gives the proper liftoff to all relationships and ventures. With Mars retrograde, you likely found nothing was moving in a productive manner. You faced a million delays and possibly a setback, and because Mars is in Virgo, you felt this frustration more personally than most.

Think back to the days surrounding January 23 when something went into a holding pattern or delay, especially if you are born near September 15-16 or have planets at 23 degrees Virgo. Now, things will move ahead with a bolt and you'll feel the energy shift. Lucky you, Mars will be strong and stay in Virgo until July 3, and keep you at the front of the class.

This is why I want you to wait and not launch any new endeavors the minute Mercury would turn direct on April 4. I need you to wait for Mars to follow suit, for I want all barriers to fall before you launch anything new.

The April 21 new moon is sensational. It is just what the month - and you - need most. It comes brimming with good news, and it will light the most broadening part of your chart, your ninth house. This part of your chart rules all sorts of intellectually stimulating parts of life that you would find exciting.

Long distance - most likely foreign - travel, attendance in the university, or involvement in the media, broadcasting, or publishing could consume your mind and will bring you to a completely new place of the mind and heart. This house deals with information, attitude, and opinion, and you seem eager to read, listen, and grow. If you travel in late April, you will love your trip, and it will be productive too, if taken for business.

If you are in a legal situation, see if you can move talks to after April 21, for you will do far better than you would near the full moon April 6. Citizenship matters will glitter, too, so if you need a passport, green card, or visa, make application within days of the appearance of this lovely new moon, April 21.

I am excited by the possibilities that exist for you at this new moon! Pluto will be supportive to this new moon, possibly bringing romance into the picture, because Pluto is based in your true love sector. Neptune, in your house of steady, committed partner, will send lyrical vibrations, adding to the idea this April's last ten days may end on a very romantic note. Mars will also support this new moon, too, giving you the right-of-way to drive its energy in any direction you please. This is really extraordinary, and I would say that this new moon takes you to a completely new country, so to speak.

You won't want to plan this important trip (for any purpose) while Venus is retrograde next month, May 15-June 27. Your ninth house of travel, education, legal matters, and publishing / broadcasting projects are all about to stall when Venus retrogrades.

This month, one of your very best days for all ninth house activities, including sending a publisher a proposal for a new book, presenting a screenplay idea to Hollywood, interviewing for a job as a segment producer or editor, meeting with officials at a university, sending in your acceptance and deposit for admission, or starting or discussing a legal matter - you get the idea - would be April 23, when Mars and the Sun will be so perfectly aligned.

If your birthday falls on August 24, you will benefit the most from this new moon. Also, if you have planets in your natal chart at 2 degrees Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Pisces, Scorpio, or Cancer, it looks like you will, too.

Just after this new moon appears on Saturday, April 21, your personal income may perk up too, due to a lovely interplay between Mars in Virgo and the Sun in Taurus. You may get a small raise, but hey, you'll take it.

At work, things will soon improve in a VERY big way. With Venus moving into your tenth house of fame on April 3, to stay until August 7, you are about to become quite popular among the upper echelon of your company and also with clients. Next month brings an eclipse in your tenth house of career - watch for huge changes, and because this new moon solar eclipse will be so friendly, I feel you will love the news coming your way. Remarkably, we have two new moons in your career sector in a row - the first the eclipse I just mentioned, May 20, and the second, June 19. If you have been worried about your career prospects, you will love all the activity coming your way, dear Virgo!

In love, April and May will be solid months, for having Mars in Virgo will be a big advantage. Venus and Mars are the two love planets, but they work in very different ways. This month you have Mars on your side, in Virgo, while Venus is working on your popularity in your career and won't be able to work with you. No problems - Mars will give you all the motivation you need to get out and meet people, whereas if Venus were in Virgo, she would tell you to hang back and let others come to you. Follow what Mars tells you to do, now, dear Virgo - it's going to fit the situation best in mid-to-late April.

You also have Jupiter in perfect angle to your Sun, which is even more important to your romantic success and happiness. You will only have Jupiter in the ideal spot, Taurus, until June 11, so you must get moving if you hope to meet someone new. If your birthday falls between September 4 and September 12, Jupiter is pure perfection for you now. Wow. I am splitting hairs (sometimes I get carried away with all the math I have to do to create your report), but it's good to know, yes? I am trying to motivate ALL Virgos to do more and expect more socially, because no matter when your birthday falls, this could be that memorable time when you met the one you would love forever.

As said, however, if you are attached, the new moon April 21 will be like your best friend, acting like a little loving relative to coax you to you bond closer to your partner. Truly, you will love how the cosmos allows you to weave a tapestry of love and romance this month, using all 14k gold threads that will shimmer in the light. You have an enormous amount of luck on your side, dear Virgo!

Summary

Mars is still moving through Virgo, but dating back to the end of January, Mars in Virgo has not been the help you had hoped, because Mars has been in retrograde a very long time. Now, the good news is Mars will turn direct in your sign on April 13 and will put you front and center from then until early July. You have two weeks to get ready to dust off your wish list and to build your strategy before Mars makes his turn. The force will be with you, dear Virgo. If you were waiting for others to deliver an answer to you, that will come and you will be glad you did not force the issue any sooner, for until now, things were in flux. Not only will Mars help you turn a negotiation in your favor, but Mercury, your ruler, will also help you when Mercury goes direct speed April 4. Delays will be history, and finally the static in the air will disperse, the fog will lift, and you will be able to see the road ahead.

Near the full moon April 6, you may get word back from higher ups about a raise you requested earlier, or you may finish up a salary negotiation for a new job. While you may not get all you requested (blame Saturn's tour of your income house, a constrictive influence), you may get a small increase that is good enough to make you mildly happy. If you don't get all the salary you want, keep in mind that it was likely due to your boss' tight budget rather than anything having to do with your performance. Venus will enter your career sector this month for a very long stay, ensuring the buzz about your work, and the way you manage others, will be lauded and admired.

Tight cash flow has been a problem for two years, and for that, you have Saturn to blame. Fortunately the full moon in your financial sector will be too far from Saturn to bring angst, but this full moon will come careening against Pluto, who will likely require you write a large check. You will need to finish up a financial matter on April 6, plus or minus four days. You may send a check to pay a bill or make a large purchase.

Do not wait to file taxes on April 15, as this day, with the impending opposition to the Sun, will be one of the most depressing of the year. Instead, get your taxes done earlier and you will avoid frustration. It is also possible that you may still have to write checks for other reasons, such as to pay off a credit card bill or pay tuition, but this cost won't be unexpected.

The clouds will clear and the Sun will appear once you get to the new moon, April 21, one of the very best of all of 2012 for you. Think about spreading your wings and leaving the environment for an important trip, for it will be one of the best moments in many years to discover all the possibilities that life has to offer. You will want intellectual stimulation, and at this point, you can find lots of it. Look for all the ways you can expand your universe. If you can go overseas after April 21, you will benefit - in fact, your trip could turn out to be life changing.

If you cannot travel, you can find other ways to reach beyond your current world, through signing up for university study, attending book lectures or museum openings, or by organizing your ideas for a new book, article, or broadcast segment or show. All these areas shine brightly for you, and it would be a shame not to take full advantage.

Romance will be helped by the fact that on April 13 Mars in Virgo will begin to ramp up speed. Your magnetism will be on the rise, and if you're single, you will have a hypnotic affect on others.

If attached, one of your best weekends for romantic fun will be April 21-23, thanks to the proximity of the Sun to Mars. It would be a glorious time to travel with your sweetheart, preferably to a distant city you've never been, and that you can both discover together. Keep in mind that Jupiter is in Taurus, a fellow earth sign like yours, giving you rare ability to find the one for you, from now through mid-May, prior to when Venus, the love planet, goes into retrograde May 15-June 27. This is your time, dear Virgo.

The full moon April 6 plus or minus four days brings a financial matter to a conclusion, but it appears to be a tense time.

April 8 may bring news that more money is on the way - money you never expected.

April 15 will be a tough day for most people due to Saturn opposed to the Sun. For you and Pisces, due to the position of Saturn, it is likely to be a depressing day for your finances. Do your taxes in advance of this day.

Mars in Virgo will go direct on April 13 and put you in control between now and July 3.

April 23: All sorts of travel, academic meetings, exams, publishing / broadcasting, and legal matters go well.

A creative project could bring excellent news April 29, plus or minus two days.

Everything improves after April 21, when travel could make you positively breathless. All topics improve having to do with citizenship, education, legal matters, publishing, and broadcasting. It's an exciting time!

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you don't know your rising sign, you won't get quite as much out of my monthly forecasts on Astrology Zone or my daily forecasts on cell phones (or delivered to your email box daily by Daily Astrology Zone). You could also get so much more from my Year Ahead 2012 book if you know your rising sign, as a rising sign helps to set up some of the timing in a chart.

To have your chart done, you would need to know your precise time of birth, to the minute. If you do know it, then you would be wise to have your natal chart done. Once you do, you can memorize your rising sign, for it will never change.
