Leo Horoscope for April 2012

Over the past few days, you likely know about the cliffhanger I had when my Mac Book Air suddenly shut down just as I was about to send Leo to my editor. My forecast for Leo was spellchecked and finished, but due to some troubles with my mail, I decided to restart. Suddenly I could not get into my computer again - and Leo was locked inside. The techs at Apple Genius Desk were very sympathetic to my plight and promised a quick turnaround, understanding it took me seven hours to write this forecast. I had to make this deadline! They quickly determined my computer had been given a damaged Intel chip, and it had to go to Houston to be fixed (I am in NYC). Dr. Twilght promised the computer would be back in New York in time for me to post - he was familiar with Astrology Zone and many at the store read the column, I learned. Apple delivered on time. This month may bring landmark news for your career. Indeed, much of the promise that Jupiter, planet of good fortune, portends for your career in 2012 may be delivered in late April or early May. You have every reason to expect a breakthrough.

This month begins on a shaky note, as there will be two cosmic storms passing through (notably at the full moon, April 6 and later, with an opposition of Saturn to the Sun on April 15). During these days, for an instant you may doubt me when I say this may become your best month of the year.

As you go through these temporary periods where things seem not to go right, keep your eye on the prize. Your golden period for your career starts April 21, and at that time, you will need to be ready to roll. In the first three weeks of April, work on your resume and bio to make it the best it can be. If you show materials, like a reel or portfolio of creative work, start to edit and streamline your presentation. You will be up for a high level position, and all the pieces of puzzle must be polished and fit perfectly into place.

That new moon will be one of the best the year and possibly of the decade for advancing your professional interests, for it will be surrounded with an arsenal of friendly planets, including Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, and Mars - all in beautiful angle to your ruler, the Sun, and the new moon, standing aside the Sun. It will be a long time before you see anything as strong and powerful as this group of planets, ready to help you make your ascent up the mountain of success.

Your work and experience will come together to bring attention to you and will help you elevate your status for a new position. If you are self-employed, you can get new business in the weeks and months to come. Even your competitors will agree, you are on the rise and one to watch. You won't have to actually land your new position now (that would probably be impossible to do quickly), but you would have to open talks now.

Jupiter has been in your tenth house of fame and outstanding career achievement for some time. The problem is that, until now, he has not had the direct cooperation of a new moon nor other planets. For that reason, you've not seen the power and might of Jupiter - but now, you will. Pluto is in your workaday sixth house sector of assignments and will see to it that you receive projects that you will be excited about doing, and that will take you to better jobs. Mars, ruling action and energy, is currently in your salary (second house) sector, and will see that you are paid well. Pluto, Mars, and the Sun / new moon will be linked in a golden triangle of harmony, called a grand trine - the finest aspect you can get.

Neptune, ruling imagination and creativity, is in your commissions-fees-bonuses sector, so Neptune will also see that you get paid generously. More importantly, Neptune is well angled toward the Sun and new moon, so this planet may see that the project is highly creative and "just your cup of tea."

As you see, each friendly planet will contribute gifts to you. The message is clear: Spend April getting ready for an explosion of opportunity that is likely to start up in the week following the new moon April 21.

A enchanting, exciting day to watch, arriving one day after the new moon appears, is Sunday, April 22. Neptune will send beautiful vibrations to the Sun, and, on the same day, Mercury will conjunct Uranus. These two aspects will light your brain brilliantly, and make it a fabulous weekend to do constructive brainstorming toward your work on an important project. This says to me that project you will be working on in April-May would have the power to bring you excellent publicity or an award. One thing seems certain: You will begin to get applause from people in your universe, and possibly beyond it.

On the following day, Monday, April 23, you will have Mars in perfect mathematical angle to the Sun, your ruler. Put a big star on this day, as it brims with energy and might, and will be ideal for an interview or presentation or to discuss any financial matter. It may also be an ideal day a financial negotiation, for you would likely see that the course of the conversation - and resulting agreement - would go your way. Mars will be strong by this part of the month, no longer retrograde (more about that later), so you absolutely need to take full advantage of this day.

The first half of May will also be simply chock full of cosmic career goodies, so don't assume you will run out of luck as you end April and move into May. There is one weekend next month that will be so vital for your career that I would like you to take note of it now: May 12-13.

On May 12-13, we have the luckiest day of the year, when Jupiter will meet with the Sun your ruler, an annual event. (In the US, this falls on May 12, but in other parts of the world, May 13.) Like two old buddies who always choose a different place for dinner each year, this year, for the first time in twelve years, they will meet in your tenth house of career success. This will be a weekend date, so you may feel the fabulous vibrations sooner over Thursday, May 10, and Friday, May 11. You will see me write about this next month, too, but I want you to get ready for this now. Jupiter rules your house of creativity, so if you are artistic or work in a creative field, you may be able to sell an idea to someone very high level, and be ready to faint with excitement when you do.

Alas, these glorious career aspects will fade like the roses in the vase that grace your desk after Venus goes retrograde next month from May 15 to June 27. Venus is the planet that rules your sector of high-level career status and fame (tenth house), so when Venus retrogrades, it will be hard for you to get ahead. It's vital that you have as many critical meetings as possible before Venus goes retrograde in mid-May. Jupiter will leave your career sector on June 11, so for all practical purposes your window for exceptional career progress will extend from April 21 to May 13.

On a social note, Venus will move into Gemini this month on April 3 for an unusually long period, and that's a very sweet place for you. Venus in this sign denotes lots of popularity for you, and much more socializing with friends. There is a danger, however, in that your friends might distract you from your dazzling career opportunities in April. If you allow them to do that, you will squander these rare and beautiful career vibrations and you won't see anything like these again until 2023. You can socialize next month, after May 13, dear Leo. For now, keep your focus on career.

Jupiter only shines his light on one sector of your chart once every 12 years. The last time Jupiter was in Taurus, it was from mid-1999 to mid-2000, just at the turn of the new millennium. That rare period twelve years ago was marred by the presence of Saturn in Taurus at the very same time, and so Saturn limited your career possibilities. That was bad luck, and it had to be frustrating. Perhaps you found a way to rise above the obstacles, being the powerful Leo that you are - the Lion rarely lets obstacles get him down. What's important to note now is that no such cap exists on how high you can fly, so this month presents a whole new picture.

Venus will remain in Gemini, that social sweet spot for you, until August 7, so you have plenty of time to take advantage of this soft and glamorous planet's ability to bring your share of enchanting evenings. Moreover, Jupiter, when it leaves Taurus and your professional sector on June 11, it will not be back until May 2023. The first place Jupiter will go, and stay for a full year, will be to your friends / people / events / hopes and wishes sector (eleventh house), where Venus is now. Jupiter is more powerful than Venus, so work hard now, confident that you will have plenty of chances to play later.

Before you get to all this wonderful professional news about to come your way - which I just discussed - you will have to muddle through two tough aspects, April 6 and 15. Everyone will feel these, not just you. So let's now backtrack and let's start at the beginning of April.

First, relief! On April 4 Mercury will go direct speed after having been retrograde since March 12. Last month, if you experienced difficulties with technology - mail that would not go out, a computer drive that crashed or froze, or a car that suddenly needed repairs - it was Mercury retrograde that caused the havoc. After Mercury goes direct, you can begin to resume normal activities and even sign contracts, but I would recommend that you don't - there are two other aspects that you would be wise to see pass first before you do anything. I don't want you to build these troublesome aspects into the birth - and DNA - of the new endeavors you begin this month.

There'll be a slightly troublesome full moon, April 6, in Libra, 17 degrees. You usually do well with air sign Libra, because air blends perfectly with your fiery Leo temperament. However, this full moon sends a very hard glance to Pluto, so you are likely to experience tension. The third house, which will take a lot of the pressure of the full moon, is the house of opinion, attitude, and perception, so you and the other person may not see eye to eye at this time.

At the same time, you may find that financials you need from someone to make a decision may not be forthcoming, or if the data does come, it may be presented in a way to mislead you. I say this because Mars will be within two degrees of opposition to foggy Neptune all month. The type of funds under Neptune's veil will be in the area of "other people's money" including such funds discussed in terms of a division of property in a divorce, child support, financial aid, commissions, investment capital, and the like. If you feel that something seems missing, or that someone is providing a distorted financial picture, slow down and demand more backup. Here is where your instinct will lead you in the right direction - trust it.

Mars, the booster rocket that sends all projects into high orbit with its powerful power and might, has been napping in retrograde since January 23, which has to feel like a very long time! If you feel as though you have been lugging a huge rock up a mountain by yourself, in a way, you have. When Mars goes retrograde, we feel like our projects are not progressing quickly enough, and that we are not being very productive. Things are in flux. Emerson once said a quote that has been my abiding motto: "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." Mars is king of enthusiasm, so when he naps, everything seems to fall flat. Do not begin any new ventures with Mars retrograde, because it will be hard for you to give that new venture (or relationship) the right energy and push to see it grow. Mars will go direct on April 13.

After that, I need you to wait through one more sticky moment, April 15, a Sunday, an aspect that has an area of influence of one to two days before and after.

April 15 brings a tense day that may be frustrating at best, depressing at worse. It brings the annual opposition of the Sun to Saturn - in other words, a tug-of-war between fire (Sun) and ice (Saturn). Someone may be quite critical or uncooperative, or coldly dismiss your point of view. The Sun represents an authority figure in your life, and Saturn represents reality - in this case, it looks like this VIP's perception or opinion will now be your reality. Try to do your best with accepting this news, working with the feedback to make your performance better (if applicable), and move on. Don't let this person undermine your confidence.

I don't want you to give "birth" to any new ventures on or near April 15 because Saturn opposed to the Sun will be built into the aspects of this new venture. It is simply not a favorable time to begin anything. Stay low and out of sight. Keep your eye on April 21 as THE start of your new ventures.

Summary

The new moon April 21 will mark the start of your extraordinary run of career luck within the weeks that follow. The actions you take in the ten days after its appearance will have unusual power and might. You can now aim to land a stunning victory, larger than any you have seen over the past DECADE. To unlock its good fortune, it will be critical that you launch a carefully crafted career campaign in the days following that new moon. Your actions have weight, and you can garner great respect and admiration for your work now. Get started thinking about this rare period the minute April dawns.

You will soon find yourself in a period of enormous professional reward, and you will realize your lucky breaks only if you get involved and show the strength of your determination to rise through the ranks. This time, there's no limited to how high you can go. It is time to demand your due. Let nothing hold you back from claiming your rightful power in your chosen field. Strike while Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, is at your side in your tenth house of fame and honors (from now to June 11) and after the new moon appears, April 21.

You may or may not see your professional prize instantly, but what matters is that you take steps quickly after the new moon April 21 appears. Jupiter will be at your side, shining like a beacon at the very top of your chart until June 11. After that, you will need to wait twelve years for luck this strong. While you will, of course, have opportunity to advance in the coming decade after June 11, it won't be as fast, as stunning, or as easy. You see the reason for the urgency.

There's also the problematic upcoming retrograde orbit of Venus, from May 15 to June 27. You need to keep an eye on Venus because she rules your career zone. That means, your biggest gains will occur from April 21 to May 13, leaving a little space between Venus strong and when she retrogrades.

Focusing on creative projects is often an important part of Leo's work, and this month, April 21 will be special for another reason - present them, and you are likely to get approvals and funding. The Sun, your sign's mighty star, will receive brilliant beams from Neptune on April 22 to bring inspiration and fire up your imagination, and Neptune could bring money too, especially if the project is artistic in some way. On the same day, April 22, set aside time to brainstorm, when Mercury and Uranus will allow you to forge breakthroughs on a level you've rarely seen.

Monday, April 23, is sure to have your name written all over it, as you'll also have the Sun, your ruler, and Mars working together to make sure you do well professionally. This will be a perfect day for a big meeting, presentation, or interview.

Travel may dot your calendar this month too, as the full moon, April 6, may also bring a quick, short trip for fun or work. It's a good time to have face-to-face talks if you are hoping to forge a business deal, and if you are seeking accord, you may be asked to sign papers at the full moon, April 6. Not so fast. Wait until Mars, planet of energy and might, is out of retrograde, for if you wait until the second half of April to give word, your project will have far better chance to succeed.

A very difficult day is due to be when the Sun, your ruler, will be challenged by Saturn on April 15. Travel may bring many delays on this day and legal matters may not go your way. Additionally, international dealings (import export, shipping, even passports and duties) may hit a snag or bring frustrating setbacks. You may be subject to criticism, too. This will be a Sunday, but this day has an area of influence of plus or minus two days. In all, on April 15 you may view the glass is half empty, not half full, but in just a few days, your outlook should improve. Work to fix any problems that come up confident that things just have to get better in a few days!

Romantically, your career is simply too hot to ignore, and it would be a shame to dilute these aspects. Your prospects for love will pick up late next month - for now, keep your eye on your career.

Most romantic evenings: April 1, 6 (wild card, could go either way), 8, 9, 13-14, 18, 23, 24, and 28-29.

An important trip or legal negotiation should end near the full moon of April 6, plus four days.

Mercury goes direct April 4. No more delays!

Venus and Uranus will bring a surprising communication or sudden trip, packed with fun, on April 9.

A home-related matter may finally be ready to begin April 13, the date Mars moves forward.

April 15: Not a good day to travel, and money talks will be depressing. Put off important moves for another day.

Your very best new moon of the year for your career is April 21! Opportunity will rain on you over the coming two weeks!

An excellent day for your money and career will be April 23. Yetsatisfaction will occur on many levels for you on this day - circle it!

Matters of love or creativity may be special on April 28-29.

April 29: VIPs will smile on you for work-related projects.

A Letter to My Readers From Susan Miller

A New Title to My Book, "The Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond"

The great sportswriter, Red Smith, once said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Now we use computers to write, but the experience the same. Anyone who has ever written a book will agree, it's hard work, but ultimately the most satisfying work you could do on earth. I love to write.

I listened to all you had to say about last year's book. You wanted more pages. You wanted an annex on the nuances of Mercury Retrograde and also on How to Deal with Eclipses. I read what I had written before and that I had posted for you on my site, and those chapters were not good enough. I ripped those chapters apart and added a lot of new material in each. I added a short piece on December 21, 2012, which is the end date of the Mayan calendar and also addressed the controversy about whether you are the sign you think you are (yes), and also addressed whether there is another thirteenth sign (no), and explained why I feel the way I do.

When I was working on each of the signs, I saw that Jupiter would move into Gemini mid-year, to stay until the middle of 2013. When Neptune moved into Pisces on February 3, 2012, this year, this planet of imagination was to stay in Pisces for fourteen years, until January 26, 2026. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, Pluto was prepared to stay - and work on our attitudes toward money - until 2024. Uranus entered Aries last March 11, 2012, to stay until March 6, 2019. Saturn is to move into Scorpio on October 4, 2012, this year, to stay until September 17, 2015. Not all years are the same. As I wrote, I realized in 2012 we were in a year of exceptional change, and each of us was about to transverse from one shore to another. As we gradually cross that bridge, we all would be in the process of saying goodbye to much of our past and walking bravely toward a very new future. It took me time to make sense of all this planetary traffic. Not all signs would feel the shifts of all the planets. For example, Aquarius would feel the move of Uranus to Aries very directly (as Uranus is this sign's ruler), but not be as affected by Pluto in Capricorn. I wanted to pinpoint what was new and fresh with the times we were living in, for no one wants a rerun of past years - and happily I found plenty of evidence of that.

As I wrote, I asked my publisher that we change the name of my book, from the "Year Ahead 2012" to the "Year Ahead 2012 and Beyond." I was spending time looking ahead, and discussing the change in attitude and societal shift some of these planets would have, but I also wanted to look back, to show you where you've been. You are never born brand new into any emerging year, of course, for you bring joys, disappointments, fears, victories, dreams, and a host of experiences and emotions with you into the New Year. Those have to be acknowledged too, so I worked hard at not just trying to walk in your shoes but to actually become you as I wrote, and to see the world as you do, through your eyes, in the light of all your recent experiences as told to me by the planet's positions.

I feel being active on Twitter has made me a better astrologer. I read your posts, and because tweets are short, I can see a great many of your thoughts and experiences. Writing my Year Ahead 2012 Illustrated Calendar (with fine artist Gloria Vanderbilt's work) was a good way for me to carefully study the year's details. I had to first memorize all the planetary positions, and like a forensic scientist see how the planets interconnected with one another to create change.

I saw, for example, that Jupiter was going into Gemini, and that the eclipses in Gemini-Sagittarius this year were destined to speed the progress of Jupiter's good work. New eclipses in the family of Scorpio-Taurus would later work with Saturn, once he moves into Scorpio in October. Uranus and Pluto meanwhile will work to give birth to a new world order. I had discussed that in my essay in my Year Ahead 2012 Calendar, and I don't use the same essays in the book and the calendar. In the front of my book, I hope you will see the essays I wrote on the feel of the year, and how it differs from last year. All kinds of connections were occurring to me, as I saw how the planets were working, not independently, but inter-dependently, to sweep out the old and outmoded, and to bring light to areas of society that need to be addressed.

This week, I will be writing the chapter on Pisces, my last chapter of the book. After that, the book will be done. Each chapter is massive, at least four times or more of the size you are used to seeing in Astrology Zone. We are attempting to put my work into your hands by the new moon April 21, at least digitally. Kindle and Nook will be the first to publish the book, and we are working with a new content manager at Apple, and hope we won't suffer the delays that we had on the iPad last year due to the way manuscripts move through the publication process at Apple. We are learning.

My publisher, Arthur Heydendael, is printing a traditional paper book very quickly. Creative director Jackie Meyer, the former Creative Director of Warner Books, is laying out the quality paperback version of my book. Jackie did the layout of all my calendars and also designed my book last year. I hope you will keep this year's book, as some of the material will be relevant to you in years to come.

I deeply appreciate your patience and support. Writing a book would be a tad easier if I weren't writing 45,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but I love writing my forecasts for you each month, and I am cheered by knowing that at least you have had all the information you have needed as you awaited the finish of my book.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you don't know your rising sign, you won't get quite as much out of my monthly forecasts on Astrology Zone or my daily forecasts on cell phones (or delivered to your email box daily by Daily Astrology Zone). You could also get so much more from my Year Ahead 2012 book if you know your rising sign, as a rising sign helps to set up some of the timing in a chart.

To have your chart done, you would need to know your precise time of birth, to the minute. If you do know it, then you would be wise to have your natal chart done. Once you do, you can memorize your rising sign, for it will never change. This explains why all Aries are not alike, or all Gemini - we are all a beautiful, rich combination of the rising sign and Sun sign, as well as a tapestry of the other planets. On the day you were born, the pattern in the sky will never be repeated in time or space - you are truly unique. What a magical piece of information!

Your natal chart will never change - it stays the same for life! You need only do your natal chart once and never again. Once you do have your chart, you will get more insight into your innate gifts and personality strengths.
